I LOVE teaching weaving and seeing all of the incredible pieces my students make. I also love the way they light up and ask me for loom recommendations, favorite yarn stores, etc. After hearing this a few times I figured it was high time I compiled a list of my favorite weaving materials you can use at home to continue to stoke you and your loved ones' creativity.
Weaving Basics:
- Warp Thread (colored warp thread can be a super fun addition to any project!)
- Weaving Needles (I prefer plastic, but I've included metal as well)
- Metal Weaving Needle
- Scissors (any will do, but here are some good fabric scissors)
- Scissors for my fellow lefties!
- Crochet Hook (for sewing in ends)
Favorite Online Yarn Resources:
Favorite Denver-area Yarn Stores:
For people looking for minimal supply investments, I curate fiber bundles and weaving kits! These keep the fun going without requiring a trip to the craft store or lots of storage space.
- Fiber bundles
- Geometric Pinks Weaving Kit (Beginner/Intermediate)
- Desert Rose Weaving Kit (Intermediate/Advanced)
For Larger Looms:
- Roving Textiles (My floor loom is from here and I absolutely love it. She also stocks great fibers!)
